I’m using it, most other designers use it as well for various purposes and you should probably consider using it too. But what is Microstock after all, why is it that important and how do people benefit from it?

Ikea Entrance

This week, the third most printed publication in the world right after the Bible & Harry Potter hit the headlines of many respectable newspapers and the whole design community alike just by deciding to replace the typeface in their most recent annual catalogue.

IKEA said they required a font to reach out to customers worldwide in digital and print media and so decided to switch from famous Futura to Verdana - a font originally created by Matthew Carter for Microsoft back in 1996 primary for on-screen usage.

Since the launch of the third version of my website back in January, many things were going on and even though I intended to write new blog entries regularly, there was usually something which seemed to be more important or urgent for some reason. But now - even though my situation didn’t change at all - I think it’s about time to start writing again especially because there are a couple of things which might be useful for some of you & some I simply like to share just like that.

A nice article about the redesign process of my portfolio and some background information have been published on FrooWeb recently. The article as well as the blog itself are really interesting and absolutely worth reading it. FrooWeb is a community and blog dedicated to literally anything that could benefit a web designer so it’s great to see an article like this there.

Here’s an extract of the article:
All in all, this website is a GREAT example of how extraordinary ideas, principles of usability, and technical expertise can be combined to produce something that really stands out from the rest. After all, this is the “World Wide Web”, you have an endless amount of competition, most of which can throw a site together in a matter of minutes and call themselves a web designer. It takes hard work and dedication (as well as a bit of natural talent) to create the masterpieces that Maximilian has been generating lately..

Make sure to have a look at the blog right here to read the entire article.
